Why
Natural?
Skin absorption:
Skin is our
largest organ and absorbs most of what we put on it (that's what makes things
like the nicotine and birth control patches work).
We
are becoming more and more conscious of what we put in our bodies, evidenced by
organic and whole foods rapidly becoming the nutrition of choice. So…why would
we settle for anything less for our skin?
Ingredients in cosmetics are not properly
regulated:
Most of the
ingredients used in beauty products have not been evaluated by the FDA (the FDA
only regulates some colors and really toxic ingredients like mercury in
cosmetics). We have a comprehensive
ingredient glossary which is a great resource to look up cosmetic
ingredients and assess their safety. Because the FDA is not regulating
ingredients in beauty products we are in the position where we must educate
ourselves on the safety of products.
For more information read (FDA vs. European Union regulations).
Power of plant properties:
Each plant
has unique properties to enable our skin to: regenerate, moisturize tone,
stimulate, heal, nourish, relax, & tighten.
Using plant
active ingredients in beauty products is effective because the metabolism
processes in the cells of plants and people are similar allowing balance and
harmony.
Simply put,
plant based ingredients work in harmony with your skin and body to enhance
healing and regenerative potential. They literally feed and nourish your skin.
Harm in synthetic ingredients:
Synthetic
ingredients are foreign to our bodies, and they do not get excreted. Over time
this accumulation of synthetic ingredients brings about stress to the body – the
stress can manifest in various ways in our nails, hair & skin, and even our
overall health.
Ecological and social advantages:
Natural
beauty products are 100% biodegradable, so no toxins are going down your drain
and into the watershed (many other species are sensitive to many synthetic
chemicals, which in some severe cases- such as the usage of synthetic chemicals
that mimic estrogen-can cause mutations in certain species).
Many natural
cosmetics and beauty products are made by small companies who are implementing
many sustainable, eco-friendly practices. By buying products from these
companies you are supporting small businesses, and eco-friendly practices.
